Welcome to our deep dive into Walrus Audio's Fundamentals pedal series! This collection features pedals with three distinct sounds packed into one effect, offering plenty of room for customization within each setting. Let's start by taking a closer look at the distinctive features and capabilities of each pedal.
Fundamental Overdrive
Drive
The fundamental drive is an easy-to-use overdrive with the ability to swap between smooth crunch and bright tonality. Within these three settings, the whole spectrum of benchmark overdrives comes to life.
Smooth drive setting creates the clear classic drive sound traditional to drive pedals. The crunch setting brings in the edge pinnacle to volume-cranked tube amps. For the best of both worlds, the bright setting combines both sounds for a clear boost with a slight touch of grit.
Within these settings, the sliders allow adjustments to the gain tone and overall volume.
Fundamental Phaser
Phaser
The fundamental phaser is a digital emulation of traditional phasers with three built-in algorithms. Each algorithm adds progressively more modulation to the sound. The light setting adds a touch of modulation to the signal. The medium emulates classic analog phasers, digitally. For a more extreme, experimental sound the heavy setting adds the modulation of a multi-voiced phaser to your signal. Within your preferred tier of modulation, you can adjust the LFO rate, feedback and depth of the pitch modulation.
Fundamental Tremolo
Tremolo
The fundamental Tremolo adds rhythmic modulation to the signal volume. It includes three wave shapes to choose from which range from smooth subtle changes to experimental and glitchy. Using the sin setting, the gradual increase and decrease of volume introduces a slight effect to your sound. For an on-off pattern, the square setting introduces a more produced pulse effect. The random setting uses random values controlled by the LFO rate to introduce wild modulation to your sound. Within these settings, you can further customize the LFO rate, depth of the volume changes and the overall output volume.
Fundamental Fuzz
Fuzz
Fundamental fuzz adds three aggressive fuzz distortion settings in a wide range of tonality from starved to crunchy to rich. Gate mode lowers the bias voltage creating a starved sound. The classic mode creates the compressed screaming tone of iconic fuzzes. Mid+ adds a boost which adds a rich tone to the compressed sound. Further customization is achieved through the gain, tone and overall volume settings.
Fundamental Delay
Delay
The fundamental delay serves as a three-in-one core effect repeater. The three algorithms allows the versatility of swapping between clean digital delays and slightly distorted analog delay. The third algorithm introduces reversed signals which can range from gentle to feedlack overload. Within these, you also have full control of the timed rate, feedback level and the dry/wet mix.
When tap mode is engaged, you can further control the tap division from a quarter note to a dotted eighth note to an eighth note.
Fundamental Reverb
Reverb
Fundamental Reverb introduces core dreamy ambient effects in three different ways. Hall mode places your sound in an acoustic hall with long decay and spacious echoes. Spring mode emulates the twang of tube amps. Finally, the plate setting introduces a dense smooth reverb of an analog plate reverb. The three sliders further allow the customization of the decay tone and overall dry/wet mix.
Fundamental Chorus

Chorus
The Fundamental chorus digitally emulates classic analog chorus in three different intensities. The effects create the range of a traditional chorus in the light mode, introduce additional taps in the medium mode and channel the tri-chorus effects of the 80s in heavy mode.
Fundamental Ambient Reverb
Ambient
The fundamental Ambient expands on the atmosphere created through reverb pedals. The deep setting introduces dark reverbs in low octaves for a moody vibe. For lighter sounds, the luch mode features lengthy sustain and classic, expansive reverb. Haze introduces textured, lo-fi reverb which includes slight distortion, rate reduction and tone control. Expanding on these modes, you can further customize decay, tone and dry/wet mix.
Fundamental Distortion
Distortion
Fundamental Distortion compacts three unique distortion sounds into one compact pedal. In dark mode, asymmetric silicone clipping creates a dynamic distortion with the addition of a high-frequency cut. Si mode introduces the classic silicone clipping adding crunch to your sound. LED mode turns the volume way up using the crunch of LED clipping. For further customization, tweak the gain, tone and overall volume for the perfect distortion for your mood.
