Spotlight: Mayfly Guitar Pedals

Mayfly designs, builds and tests effects pedals in Ottawa. Below we take a closer look at some of our favourite unique pedals coming from a local brand, including the new Habanero fuzz.

This pedal is a combination Boost and Fuzz designed in partnership with Lucas Haneman. Each side of the pedal, Boost or Fuzz, can be used independently and together.
The boost side of the pedal is able to range from clean sustain to gradually increasing breakup through the use of the gain knob.  
The fuzz side uses a two pole filter circuit which will allow 20dBs of attenuation. It features tonnes of gain and sustain which, when used with the boost, creates loads of harmonics.

Jellyfish Dual Reverb

The jellyfish is a digital reverb which works with both mono and stereo inputs and outputs, and supports stereo output from a mono source. The jellyfish has both an A and B side which hold individual reverb settings. Each side allows control over pre-delay and dwell.
The jellyfish also includes a tails switch which can allow the reverb to decay naturally or cut abruptly when bypassing the effect. 

Voxbox


The Voxbox allows a microphone to connect to a effect pedal loop. It takes an XLR input, puts the signal through it's internal pre-mp and sends it to an impedance matched effects send. The output of the effects loop connects to the return port of the Voxbox. The signal then goes to a balanced XLR output.
The foot switches of the Voxbox allows control the activation of the effects loop. The engage loop controls the bypass, while the momentary swap temporarily engages the effects loop while pressed.

The Goddess, like the Jellyfish, has an A and B side which allow differing effects to be swapped out. The A side is Intended for slower, melodic modulation while the B side is intended for fast, experimental sounds.

Sunrise Guitar Amplifier Simulator

The Sunrise Is an amp simulator designed to replace a standalone amp. It can connect into PA systems, DAWs, headphones and can close out a effects loop.Through ther internal controls, the speaker cabinet emulator can mimic tones from a open backed speaker, to a closed back amplifier.
The tone is clean at low volumes, but will slowly break up as the knob passes 12 o'clock.
The sunrise has built in controls for Treble, midrange and Bass. there is a toggle-able reverb setting which can range from a subtle effect to a swell of expression.
